CHITWAN & THE TERAI
The southern lowlands of Nepal are called the Terai, and are well known for the superb wildlife on offer. Chitwan and Bardia National Parks are both well known for the one-horned rhino, deer, Bengal tiger, leopard, muggar crocodile, sloth bear and over 500 species of birdlife.
CENTRAL NEPAL
The areas between Kathmandu and Pokhara make up the central regions of Nepal, linked by the main Tribhuven Highway that links the two cities. As you head off the main road, you find some interesting towns and villages.
KATHMANDU VALLEY
Kathmandu is one of the most fascinating cities in the subcontinent. It was cut off from the outside world until the 1950s, and so it retains its own distinct character, architecture and history. Kathmandu is awash with pagoda style buildings, temples and shrines, and its narrow streets and bustling markets are ideal just to wander around seeing the traditional Nepalese way of life.
POKHARA & ANNAPURNA REGION
Pokhara is the gateway to the Annapurna Region, idyllically located next to the dramatic Phewa Lake with the snow-capped Annapurna Range as a backdrop. It is the main base for a trek into the mountains of Nepal.
